From Meteora to mount Olympus and the Aegean sea!

Transfer from Athens or Thessaloniki to the famous Meteora. Half a day's cycling to warm up in this extraordinary landscape with the rocky peaks rising out of the Thessalian plain topped with Byzantine monasteries. Dinner and overnight stay in 3 to 4* accommodation in the picturesque village of Kastraki.

From Meteora to Elassona, the capital of feta — the delicious cheese made from ewe’s and goat’s milk. There are two routes to choose from, depending on your level.
Expect a ride of 5 to 7 hours, covering 75 or 110km, with 500m or 1,200m of climbing and 1,170 m of descent.
In Elassona, you can visit a local organic winery upon request, or, if you feel energetic, continue uphill to the traditional village of Tsaritsani for a short visit and a glimpse of its rich heritage.

Climb up to the village of Livadi, a farming community raising livestock sustainably on the pastures of Mount Olympus, a thousand metres above the plain. After visiting the village, we'll sample the wonderful local cuisine at the women's village cooperative. Overnight stay at the Mytikas hotel.
Journey time 3-4 hours, 35 km, 1000 metres assent.

Today, we skirt the flanks of Olympus from the south with a beautiful, uninterrupted view of the Thessaly plain. From Livadi to Karya, 3-4 hours, 40 kilometres, 870 metres climbing and 1130 metres descent. On the way, you can visit the beautiful and peaceful Sparmos monastery (with a short additional climb from the road). In Karya, you'll enjoy a walking tour of the mountain village, dinner and an overnight stay at the Olympus Lodge, a few kilometres from the village.

Now it's time to cycle to the Aegean Sea via a long descent from Mount Olympus into the Tempi Valley through a beautiful Mediterranean forest with a full range of species ranging from spruce to olive trees! The Pinios River flows through the Tempi Valley, which we will cross to visit the outstanding, traditional village of Ambellakia. Then we follow the river to its delta, crossing kiwi groves and fields of sunflowers to reach a beautiful sandy beach several kilometres long.
70 km route, 4 to 5 hours, 680 m climbing, 1600m descent.
Dinner and overnight stay in the fishing village of Stomio.

For this last day in Thessaly, there are several options, including rafting in the Tempi Valley, canoeing in the Pinios delta, a hike down from the summit of Kissavos, or a bike ride along the coast from Stomio to Velika. Overnight stay in Stomio (second night) and dinner.
