Karystos existed as a city-state before classical antiquity. Studying its history provides a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Mediterranean and the Balkans, shaped by the antagonisms of the powers of each period. From ancient water mills to a factory producing monolithic Roman columns, from the Roman aqueduct to the Castello Rosso, there are many reminders of all the peoples who have passed through here.

A visit to the small hamlet of Galana above Marmari will give us a glimpse of the different aspects of the completely self-sufficient life of the region's inhabitants until the mid-20th century.
Transfer to the beautiful Dimosari Gorge, which we will descend on a built path that connected the villages from north to south, along the stream and down to the sea. Swim in the Aegean Sea on the large beach of Agios Dimitrios.

With a relatively short and easy hike, we will reach the summit of Mount Oche (1,400 m) with a breathtaking view of southern Attica and the Cyclades.
Just below the summit, we will discover huge blocks of stone weighing several tonnes, assembled with precision to form a megalithic construction called ‘the Dragon's House’, which has been used for various cults since prehistoric times.

Starting from the picturesque village of Platanistos on the eastern slope of Mount Oche, we will take an old path that winds through beautiful vegetation and follows the stream and its waterfall, to the magnificent beach of Potami

A beautiful circular hike that begins at a site of megalithic constructions of unusual architecture (the Dragon Houses) and leads us along a ridge to the ancient Acropolis of Styra. The Armenion Castle, which guarded the narrowest passage on the island of Euboea, was used continuously from ancient times until the mid-17th century.
